Charles George de Wahl
1806–76
Estonian nobleman. Of Wattel (now Vatla), Estonia. Also known as Carl. Second son of Karl Gustav Wahl and Henriette Edwards. Married Anne Rigby (1804–69), a cousin of Maria Hooker, Joseph Dalton Hooker’s mother, in Framingham Earl, Norfolk, in 1830; divorced, 1837. Father of Eduard George de Wahl MD, whom J. D. Hooker met in St Petersburg in 1869.
