Governess. Daughter of Thomas Fermor, first earl of Pomfret, and his wife, Henrietta Louisa Jeffreys; both parents held court appointments. Married William Finch (1691–1766) in 1746. Royal governess, 1762–93. Managed the nursery and the staff of the eight princes and six princesses born to George III and Queen Charlotte. Introduced new educational theories and practices to the court.
