George Tradescant Lay
1799–1845
Botanist, missionary and diplomat. Naturalist on the voyage of HMS Blossom, 1825–8. Missionary in China for the British and Foreign Bible Society from 1836–9. Lived in London in 1841. H.M. Consul in Canton, 1843–5. Died in Amoy (Xiamen).
