Agriculturalist and stockbreeder. Managed farms in Lincolnshire at Riby; Aylesby, from 1848; Rothwell, from 1854; Riby Grove, from 1856. Member of the Royal Agricultural Society from 1839; council member from 1857. Renowned for his breeds of Leicester sheep, thoroughbred ponies, and shorthorn cattle.
