Augusta Elizabeth Frederica Stanley (1863–1876)

Courtier. Daughter of Thomas Bruce, seventh earl of Elgin and eleventh earl of Kincardine, and his second wife, Elizabeth Oswald. Lady-in-waiting to the duchess of Kent, 1846–61. Resident of the bedchamber to Queen Victoria from 1861; later head of the queen’s personal attendants, and after her marriage to Arthur Penrhyn Stanley in 1863, extra woman of the bedchamber. Close friend and correspondent of the queen.
