Ship’s mate and colonist. Mate on Borneo, one of the first ships to carry European colonists to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, in 1827. Second in command of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands when the nominal leader was away. Left for Batavia (Jakarta) circa December 1837.
