Johann Georg Adam (Georg) Forster
1754–94
German naturalist, writer, and ethnologist. Son of Johann Reinhold Forster. Translator and naturalist on James Cook’s second voyage round the world, 1772–5. Professor of natural history, Kassel, 1779–84; Vilneus, 1784–7. Librarian, Mainz, 1788–92. Representative of German national convention in Paris, 1792.
