Sophia Elizabeth De Morgan (1837–1892)
1809–92
Author and spiritualist. Daughter of William Frend. Married Augustus De Morgan in 1837. Author of From matter to spirit; the result of ten year’s experience in spirit manifestations (1863). Active in the anti-slavery movement, the reform of prisons and workhouses, the founding of Bedford College for Women, and the women’s suffrage movement.
