James Wilson
1795–1856
Scottish zoologist. Made a series of excursions round the coasts of Scotland studying the natural history of fishes, 1841–50. Following the death of Edward Forbes, he was offered, but declined, the professorship of natural history, Edinburgh University, 1854.
