William Bollaert

1807–76

Chemist and ethnologist. Chemical assistant at the Royal Institution, then chemist and assayist for Peruvian silver mines. Travelled extensively in South America, Central America, and Texas, publishing geographical and ethnological observations made during his explorations. An associate member of the Royal Geographical Society and a fellow of the Ethnological and Anthropological Societies of London.
