George Nicholas Sanders
1812–73
American political activist. Leader of the Young America movement in the 1850s, advocating American support for republicanism in Europe; editor of Democratic Review from 1851. Appointed to a consulship in London, 1853. Confederate agent in Britain and Canada during the American Civil War.
