Henry Wolsey Bayfield
1795–1885
Entered the Royal Navy in 1806. Admiralty surveyor, 1817. Surveyed Lakes Erie, Huron, and Superior, 1817–25; the St Lawrence, 1827–56. Collected geological specimens and wrote geological papers on these areas. Admiral 1867.
