William Herapath

1796–1868

Analytical chemist. Cousin of John Herapath. An original member of the Chemical Society of London. A founder of the Bristol Medical School, 1832, where he was professor of chemistry and toxicology until 1867. Retained in many criminal trials involving suspected poisoning, where he was frequently in opposition to Alfred Swaine Taylor.
