Wilhelm Alexander (Wilhelm) Detmer
1850–1930
German plant physiologist and agriculturalist. Studied agriculture at the Agricultural Academy, Hohenheim, 1868. PhD, Leipzig, 1871. Assistant, Agricultural-Physiological Institute, University of Leipzig, 1871. Habilitated in plant physiology at Jena in 1875 and taught at the university; professor, 1923. Lectured on soil science, seed physiology, and plant physiology; published a textbook on plant physiology in 1883.
